In healthcare, an orderly is a hospital attendant, whose job consists of assisting medical and nursing staff with various nursing and medical interventions, such as:

  • Assist patients with their personal care needs such as showering, dressing and feeding.
  • Assist patients with their mobility and communication needs.
  • Follow therapy plans such as interventions to assist those with dementia and behavioral problems.
  • Observe and report changes in patients’ condition and report complaints about care.
  • Assist with rehabilitation exercises & basic treatment.
  • Preparation of patient bed and surrounding equipment.
  • Ensure Hygiene of the patient and surrounding area.
  • Fill necessary records and documents concerning patient registration/exit, medical insurance and deliver medications.
